Can I restrict users from editing Contacts?

  • Updated

Contact Types can be used to define how a particular contact relates to your firm. If you wish to restrict what users can apply these definitions, or make changes to the contact after a type has been applied, you can do so within Firm Settings.

Firms Administrators can choose to lock down the editing of Contacts by setting permissions to individual users. This will help with ensuring the data integrity of Contacts and prevent unintended edits.

These permissions can be found under Matters & Contacts --> Contact Types.

Only users that have permissions for a Contact Type will be able to edit these Contacts. Users who don’t have permissions will not be able to create a new Contact with the selected Contact Type.

All users can view all contacts.

When users do not have permissions, no update button will be available.

Note: If a Contact Type is not assigned, any user can edit that Contact. To ensure that users cannot edit Contacts, you can make Type a requires field.
