  • Updated

00:01: This video will demonstrate how to navigate and configure CARET Pay settings,

00:06: within CARET Legal,

00:08:

00:09: CARET Pay settings allow firms to manage CARET Pay preferences,

00:13: including account mapping, notifications, surcharge settings, and payment links.

00:20: To access these settings, navigate to Firm Settings,

00:25: Billing and Accounting,

00:27: and CARET Pay Integration.

00:31: The CARET Pay settings page is organized into four tabs, each providing

00:35: configuration options for different aspects of CARET Pay.

00:40: The General tab is where firms can configure account mappings for CARET Pay

00:44: transactions.

00:46: Here you can select the trust account and operating account that will be used when

00:50: processing payments through CARET Pay.

00:54: Proper account mapping helps ensure funds are routed to the correct accounts and

00:58: that payment activity is recorded appropriately with CARET Legal.

01:04: Next is the Notifications tab.

01:08: The Notifications tab allows firms to control which email notifications are sent for

01:14: CARET Pay activity.

01:17: Notifications are organized into categories including transactions,

01:22: disbursements,

01:23: refunds, and chargebacks.

01:26: Each notification type includes a manage recipients option where you can specify

01:31: which users should receive email notifications for that activity.

01:39: Recipient lists are configured individually for each notification type and must be

01:43: reviewed separately.

01:45: Multiple recipients can be added using a comma-separated format.

01:52: This allows firms to ensure the appropriate team members are notified when

01:56: payment-related events occur, while maintaining different recipient lists for

02:01: different types of payment activity.

02:06: Next, we'll review the Surcharge tab.

02:09: The Surcharge tab allows eligible firms to pass applicable credit card processing

02:14: fees onto clients by enabling surcharge functionality within CARETPay.

02:20: When surcharge is enabled at the firm level, it becomes the default setting for

02:24: newly created clients and matters.

02:28: Existing clients and matters are not automatically updated and must be configured

02:33: separately if surcharge is desired.

02:38: After enabling surcharge, you can select manage surcharge to review matters and

02:42: their current surcharge status.

02:46: Surcharge settings can also be managed at the client or matter level providing

02:50: flexibility when determining which matters should participate in surcharge

02:55: processing.

02:57: Surcharges are not applied to ACH or E-Check payments,

03:02: debit card transactions or trust retainer deposits.

03:06: Firms should review all applicable state regulations,

03:10: bar association requirements and firm policies before enabling surcharge

03:14: functionality.

03:19: Finally, we'll review the payment link tab.

03:22: The payment links tab allows firms to create and manage payment links that can be

03:27: shared with clients for convenient online payments.

03:31: Because payment links includes additional configuration options and use cases, they

03:36: are covered in a separate video.

03:38: However, this tab is where you can create, view, and manage your firm's payment

03:44: links.

03:46: This video has demonstrated how to navigate and configure CARET Pay settings

03:51: within CARET Legal,
