Can I download Multiple Documents at once?

  • Updated
CARET Legal's Document Management system allows you to store your important Documents, and have them available to share or access at any time.

When a document is uploaded to a Matter, the file is stored on our servers, and is available from both the web and mobile applications. To make edits or changes to the documents, you can download them to your computer and work with them within the appropriate program.

There are several ways of downloading more than one document at a time.

Download Selected

  1. Navigate to the Matters section and select a Matter No to open the Matter details, then click the Documents tab.

  2. Check off the documents you wish to download or use the select all checkbox to choose all the files on that page. A Multi Select Options button appears in the bottom right hand corner of your browser.

  3. Click the up arrow and select Download Selected from the pop-up menu to download the documents to your computer.

Bulk Download

  1. To download all the Documents related to this Matter, or all documents within a specific subfolder, click the Bulk Download icon on the purple action bar.

  2. Select either Download Entire Matter or Download Current Subfolder from the drop-down menu.

  3. Depending on the amount and size of the files, the download process may take a few moments. The Documents are downloaded to a zip file.

  4. Click View Exported Documents to access the downloaded zip file.

Opening the ZIP file

Your zip file will include the folder structure and documents. In the case of a full document name that exceeds the character limit you will see a folder called "Folder character count exceeded".

  • When you use the Matter-Documents Download Entire Matter or Download Current Subfolder, there is a 158 character limit for the full document name. The full document name includes the characters in Matter Number + all folders and sub-folders + the document name.
  • If any files exceed the 158 character limit, you will see a folder in the zip file called "Folder character count exceeded". This will include all files that exceed the 158 character limit in any folder.
  • If some of the documents in a folder exceed the limit and others do not, you will see the folder with the files that that did not exceed the limit in the zip file. You will see the files from that folder that did exceed the limit in the "Folder character count exceeded" folder.
  • If all the documents in a folder exceed the 158 character limit, you will not see the folder at all in the zip file. You will see all the files in the "Folder character count exceeded" folder.
