How to connect Lawmatics to CARET Legal

The integration between CARET Legal and Lawmatics makes it easy for your law firm to transition from client intake to case management, reducing manual data entry and ensuring all case information stays up-to-date. Lawmatics helps you manage leads, automate client intake, and win more business, while CARET Legal handles matter management. 

By connecting Lawmatics to your CARET Legal account, your firm can automatically sync new matters and client details, ensuring critical client details remain accurate from intake through case management

Setting up the integration

To connect your CARET Legal account to Lawmatics, follow these steps:

  1. Log into Lawmatics and navigate to Settings (bottom-left corner of the dashboard).
  2. Go to the Integrations section and find CARET Legal in the list.
  3. Click Connect, then log in with your CARET Legal credentials when prompted.
  4. Authorize the connection to complete the integration setup.

Note: You must be an Admin user in CARET Legal to set up this integration.

 

Once connected, there are two ways to sync a matter from Lawmatics to CARET Legal:

Syncing via conversion

  1. Log into Lawmatics
  2. Click the Convert button at the top left of any Potential New Client (PNC). This action will:
    1. Sync the matter to CARET Legal.
    2. Update the matter status in Lawmatics to Hired.
  3. You can also automate this process by adding a convert matter action in your Lawmatics automation. Matter Conversion Sync must be enabled in your Lawmatics’ integration settings to do this. (This setting is enabled by default when the integration is connected.)

Syncing via the ‘Sync to CARET’ button

  1. Log into Lawmatics
  2. A Sync to CARET button appears at the top of each matter in Lawmatics.
    1. This allows you to sync a matter before the client has officially hired your firm.
    2. Unlike the Convert action, this does not change the matter’s status to "Hired" in Lawmatics.
  3. You can also automate syncing by incorporating the Sync to Case Management action into an automation workflow.
  4. If you update any information in Lawmatics after syncing, simply click Sync to CARET again to update the existing matter in CARET Legal (instead of creating a new one).

Customizing the integration

After connecting Lawmatics to your CARET Legal account, you can map key fields between the two platforms to ensure a seamless data transfer:

  • Practice Areas: Ensure that your Lawmatics practice areas align with those in CARET for accurate data transfer.
  • Users: Map Lawmatics users to CARET users so that assigned team members sync correctly.
  • Attorney Fields: Lawmatics attorney fields can be mapped to CARET's In Charge Attorney, Billing Attorney, and Originating Attorney fields.

Important: For a matter to sync correctly from Lawmatics to CARET Legal, users must be mapped to the appropriate attorney fields in CARET. Otherwise, matters may not transfer as expected.

Viewing synced matters in CARET Legal

Once a matter has been synced from Lawmatics, it will appear in your CARET Legal account with all relevant details. Below is an example of how a synced matter is displayed in CARET Legal.
