Email and Calendar Sync in CARET Legal

  • Updated

00:00: This video demonstrates how to synchronize your email and calendar using CARET.

00:03: It covers signing in, folder mapping, and completing the sync process for Microsoft

00:08: and Google accounts.

00:11:

00:12: Hello and thank you for joining.

00:13: On this particular session, we will cover how to sync your email as well as your

00:20: calendar.

00:20: To

00:21: begin, you will need to be on your main dashboard as shown here.

00:29: From the dashboard, you should see the email box as well as the calendar box.

00:37: We will refer to these as widgets.

00:41: Starting on the email widget,

00:44: I am going to select sign in with Microsoft because I use Office 365 or

00:52: Outlook here at my firm slash company.

00:58: If you are a G Suite or Gmail user at the firm, then you would use sign in with

01:04: Google.

01:07: When I click sign in with Microsoft, the

01:13: box will pop up and try to log me into Microsoft.

01:18: If I only have one Microsoft Office 365 account or Outlook account, then it may

01:25: bypass

01:26: you typing in your email because it already recognizes that email address.

01:31: In my

01:34: case, I have two accounts.

01:38: And so I'm going to sign in with the one that I want to sync email with.

01:48: It also recognized my password for Microsoft because I was already logged in.

01:55: This varies from firm to firm based on security settings and how you store your

02:02: usernames and passwords.

02:05: But if it does not bypass the

02:09: user email address login, then you'll enter your Microsoft email or your Outlook

02:14: email, if you will, as well as the password.

02:19: If it does bypass, then you should be seeing the screen that I'm on.

02:25: And this screen gives you the opportunity to map your folders from

02:31: caret to

02:33: mimic your folders and outlook.

02:38: The same concept applies for Gmail

02:42: or G Suite.

02:45: The easiest way to do this is just make sure that your inbox here labeled on top for

02:53: caret Carrot Legal is

02:55: set to mimic your inbox here in the dropdown

03:00: for Office 365 or Outlook.

03:04: Again, my sent and caret should match my sent and

03:10: Outlook, so on and so forth.

03:14: As you can see, my trash here wants to default to the archive folder and Outlook,

03:19: but my

03:21: deleted items are the equivalent of

03:25: trash and caret.

03:27: and my spam is the equivalent of junk.

03:30: So this may take some finessing,

03:32: but it's just mapping your folders to mimic the ones in Outlook.

03:38: Okay, I'll click update email settings,

03:41: and that will prompt this

03:43: carrot legal email to start to sync with my Outlook.

03:46: Once that's started, I will go ahead and on the right hand side,

03:51: I will go to the share sync on the calendar and

03:56: begin syncing my calendar with my Outlook.

04:01: Again, I'm going to select the Microsoft option because that is what my firm or

04:05: company uses.

04:08: If you use G Suite, you'll want to sign in with your Google account.

04:13: Here, again, because I have two Microsoft accounts, it's showing both.

04:19: If you only had one and you were already logged into the browser with your Microsoft

04:24: Office 365 account, it may bypass this altogether.

04:30: For those of us who are not logged in or have more than one account, it will have

04:35: you select the account or type it in as well as enter the password.

04:40: And because I've already synced my calendar a few times, it's going to give me a

04:43: little bit of a notification here, so that's more than fine.

04:55: For those of you who've never synced a calendar before,

04:59: it'll prompt you that you are going to start syncing.

05:03: that new calendar.

05:06: And once it's finished, it will tell you.

05:09: There we go, looking for that success notification.

05:14: You will receive an email that will also tell you once it's finished syncing,

05:18: because that can take just a little while for it to sync up everything, and it

05:23: really just depends on how many emails you have and how many calendar events you

05:27: have.

05:28: But once it's done, you will will receive an email for the calendar syncing.

05:33: And that is how you sync your email and calendar in Carrot.

05:38: Thanks for watching.

05:54: Learn to connect and sync your email and calendar in CARET, including account sign-in,

05:58: folder mapping, and receiving sync completion notifications.
